Very rare vintage blue and white ticking with an oriental motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1930. This textile, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is made of cotton. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as Toile de Jouy and Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. In this textile, the motifs are very original: Arab horsemen in battle, dancers, camel riders,… Arab architecture and palm trees frame the scenes.
ROSARIO SAYS: “This is a splendid textile work with a Jacquard loom. The different jacquard wefts have been used to differentiate the textures in the lattices of the palaces ”.
