Remarkable vintage beige-brown ticking with off-white stripes. This “Coutil” or “Toile à Matelas” is a French fabric from the first half of the 1900s. This textile was part of a mattress cover. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. The herringbone weave reinforces visual linearity.
ROSARIO SAYS: “These beige and white tones are very popular with French ticking. In This textile we can see the brand: -Coutil Mètis Fleur Bleu- ”

CONDITION
Fair condition. This fabric has some tiny holes, some pale fading and flaws, it’s maybe only suitable for small projects such as pillows, small upholstery, sachets, patchwork - it really depends on your tolerance for signs of time and use. A wonderful and rare fabric with a gorgeous color! Lovely but not perfect - still very special and large indeed!
