Very rare vintage ticking in sky blue and white with a Japanese atmosphere motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This textile, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is cotton. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as the Toile de Jouy and the Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. The motifs are inspired by Japanese designs that influenced so much Art Nouveau and Chinoiserie that was so popular throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
