This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is light weight cotton. Perfect textile for upholstery projects, cushions, bags, etc. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as the Toile de Jouy and the Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. The motifs are inspired by Japanese designs that influenced so much Art Nouveau and Chinoiserie that was so popular throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe neat and shiny white thread contrasts with the background. This shade of bubblegum pink is very rare in these mattress fabrics.
