*The pillow may be used as is but, of course, it could also be opened and the fabric would be twice the size.

    Condition: Distressed
Distressed. Ticking in distressed condition. A wonderful historical fabric. As found for collectors. This fabric has pale marks, stains and flaws, very dirty in areas! This ticking is not suitable for anyone needing a textile in perfect condition, but it's perfect for someone that is used to working with antique fabric and values the signs of time and use and looking to add charm and character. A worn piece but with a great value. The small scuffings give it a beautiful old patina. Maybe not for everyone. Extremely beautiful and rare!

  • Description
  • How To Shop
  • Extraordinary and old Finnish mattress fabric (“patjakangas”) made of cotton and a rustic linen (linen tow). This fabric is a handloom twill weave. With stripes of different shades of indigo, and off-white. The pillow is double-sided. It can be used as is or it could be opened for projects. ROSARIO SAYS: “These fabrics are from the late 1800s - early 1900s. As seen in the Collection of the Seurasaari Open Air Museum (Finland). I think they are elegant pieces because of the simplicity of the colors and the softness they have achieved from the linen. A wonderful treasure!” The term "tow" refers to the shorter flax fibers left over from the spinning process. Threads and fabrics made from tow fibers are usually thicker and more rustic in nature.
