Wonderful vintage beige ticking with red and white stripes. It is a European herringbone tissue called cutí (from the French “coutil”) from the early 1900s. This textile, recovered and recently washed, was part of a mattress cover. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. The years give it a beautiful old-age patina. The herringbone weave reinforces the visual linearity.

CONDITION
Fair condition. Only light wear consistent with age and history but has no structural issues. Pale fading.Some pale marks towards the side seams. Minimal scuffing towards the side seams. A small tear towards the middle. One intact selvage. Beautiful hand sewn back patches. This textile has some original patches that covered the old, deteriorated eyelets. A delicious old detail!
