Very rare red and white vintage ticking fabric with a Japanese motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is light weight cotton. Perfect textile for upholstery projects, cushions, bags, etc. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as the Toile de Jouy and the Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. The motifs are inspired by Japanese designs that influenced so much Art Nouveau and Chinoiserie that was so popular throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

The neat and shiny white thread contrasts with the background.
