Wonderful vintage ticking in red with a chinoiserie pattern. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This textile, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is made of cotton. Here we see chrysanthemums, and birds with exotic plumage.

CONDITION
Distressed. Moderate wear consistent with age and history. Original color. Moderate scuffing towards the side seams. Some small pea sized holes throughout the piece. Authentic hand sewn eyelets. Both selvages preserved intact. Very nice hand-moldable texture. Specially soft fabric. See the sketch and photos. Despite all these imperfections it is a unique fabric. Maybe not for everyone. Incredibly beautiful and rare!
