Lovely vintage hot pink and gray striped ticking with some thin yellow stripes. It is a European twill fabric called Cutí (from the French “coutil”) from around 1940. This textile, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. It has a delicious combination of colors.
ROSARIO SAYS: "This slight fade in the hot pink color gives it a marvelous patina of old age"
MEASUREMENTS
48 cm wide × 123 cm long (19" × 49" / 1.36 yards)
CONDITION
Fair condition. Only light wear consistent with age and history but has no structural issues. Color unevenly faded with time. Authentic hand sewn eyelets. The fabric is firm and good with no tears or stains, but it has some areas with some pale fading and some tiny scuffs towards the bottom. Despite imperfections it is a unique fabric. I'd still give it a lot of use because it is so gorgeous. Incredibly beautiful and rare!
