- Very rare vintage mattress fabric in dark lilac and white with a Japanese vibe motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is lightweight cotton. An incredibly soft and fluffy texture. Perfect textile for decoration projects, cushions, bags, etc. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as Toile de Jouy and Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. The motifs are inspired by Japanese designs that so influenced Art Nouveau and Chinoiserie that was so popular throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The neat and shiny white thread contrasts with the background.
