- Fascinating Finnish mattress fabric (“patjakangas”) with red, black and off-white stripes. It is an old twill fabric, on a 58 cm wide hand loom from the early 1900s. At this time the mattress was made up of two long pieces joined together. This bag or cover has three joined sides and one open to insert the filling. It is a very dense twill to contain the goose feathers and on the reverse it is slightly flanneled, as can be seen in other fabrics of the period. This fabric is as genuine as they come. Charming aged and worn look both for the quality of the dense and intact fabric and for the look and colors.
