Extraordinary antique Finnish ticking made of very rustic and thick linen (linen tow) with very wide longitudinal red and blue stripes. Woven on a handloom. It is a piece from the early 1900s.
ROSARIO SAYS: “This piece is a magnificent find. So large and wonderful. A luxury to have this unique piece.”
MEASUREMENTS
I am selling this textile per piece - each:
55 cm wide × 3 meters long (22" × 3.3 yards)
I have 2 pieces just like this, for a total of 6 meters (~6.6 yards) combined. Glorious for larger projects.
WHY IT’S SOLD THIS WAY
These textiles come from old cover textiles, traditionally woven on narrow handlooms. To achieve the desired width, two long strips were often joined in the middle. We carefully unpick these pieces, preserving both selvedges intact, to offer them as individual lengths. This gives you flexibility to purchase fabric in manageable widths while preserving the authenticity and larger fabric quantity.
CONDITION
Excellent condition. It is an antique textile without defects, probably never used. Exceptional and extremely rare.
