Wonderful find!. Pile of antique tickings of blue and white stripes and checks and sometimes red stripes. This is a durable Spanish fabric manufactured in the early 1900s. It is of medium weight cotton. Many of them woven on a narrower hand loom than the rest of our fabrics.
ROSARIO SAYS: "Before jacquard looms revolutionized weaving, stripes and squares were used to form more or less complex geometric structures. Weavers have always looked for ways to make original, curious and different fabrics and have known how to take advantage of the resources of the techniques they had until then. So it is not surprising to find this similarity in design, if not technique, with the old American coverlets”.
