Great grayish beige vintage ticking fabric with off-white stripes. This “Coutil” or “Toile à Matelas” is a French fabric from the first half of the 1900s. This piece was part of a mattress cover. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. The herringbone weave reinforces visual linearity.

CONDITION
Good condition. Some minor scuffs and pin sized holes here and there. Many small hand-sewn mendings throughout the piece and two larger gorgeous repairs. It is a timeworn fabric, but very large and very usable! The mendings give it a beautiful old patina. Dense, but soft and moldable textile. Not perfect but perfectly wonderful. All condition reflected in the price.
